Plays about human rights wanted - rolling submission

Everyone Has the Right is a rolling script submission service for plays with human rights at their heart. A joint initiative with Amnesty International UK, Everyone Has the Right provides a natural home for writers exploring human rights stories to create surprising and entertaining theatre.

But how can human rights be transformed from formalised, aspirational ideals to real, breathing situations that form the basis for excellent theatre?

Please send your script, short synopsis (no more than 200 words) and cover sheet (download from the website) to: Everyone Has the Right, iceandfire, Toynbee Hall, 28 Commercial Street, London, E1 6LS.

You will receive an emailed report within two months of submission

Find out more on the ice and fire website.

One Night Stands (London) seek plays for readings,  rolling submission

"Everyone should experience a One Night Stand at some point in their lives and here’s your chance…"

One Night Stands Rehearsed Readings are calling for submissions of new plays for the
re-launch of their monthly rehearsed reading event at The Blue Posts in Soho from February 2010.

This is an opportunity to have your short or full-length play directed and performed by some of the most promising up-and-coming directors and actors in London in front of a live audience. This is also an opportunity to get feedback on the script in a relaxed and warm environment.

Scripts should be less than two years old and can be of any length or topic. We do ask to limit the number of characters to five. Please also only send in one script per round of submissions.

It is not our policy to offer feedback on individual scripts. However, if the script is selected there is an opportunity to gather feedback from the audience after the reading. This can be as focussed or relaxed as you feel necessary in consultation with your director.

Although we aim to read scripts and respond within six months, we often receive vast numbers of submissions so please bear with us if the wait’s a little longer than this.

ONS Readings, 7 St Peter’s Road, London, W6 9BA
If you would like the script returned please also include SAE.

For further information please visit our website or email us.

Sunday Surgery – script development and staged performances - Rolling submission

Every last Sunday of the month from March 28th, at The Others, 6-8 Manor Road, Stoke Newington.

msft offers a Sunday Service for experienced as well as novice writers, where you can develop creative ideas, build characters and push your plot to its dramatic limits. We are not here to ‘teach’ you how to write, we are here to make what you write come to life. Once you have created a story, msft will provide space to put it on its feet, a professional director and trained actors to bring it to life in front of an audience. Successful Sunday Surgery work will then be developed further and considered for selection for msft’s festivals of new work, Write Side of the Brain and the DYS-PLA festival, to take place at a top London Venue in November 2010.

We welcome 10-60 page submissions from writers all year round – please note that submissions received by the 1st of each month will be considered for that month’s Sunday Surgery. msft also encourages submissions from writers with a learning difference such as dyslexia .
